Krispy Kreme is going dark.
In celebration of the Aug. 21 solar eclipse, the iconic doughnut chain announced a chocolate spin on its classic glazed doughnut, and we, for one, cannot wait to try it.

As this particular solar eclipse is a once-in-a-99-year-event, it makes sense Krispy Kreme would pick now to debut a chocolate-glazed doughnut. Krispy Kreme even dubbed it “the tastiest eclipse in history” in its press release.
The solar eclipse is a rare occasion providing a total sensory experience for viewers across the continental U.S. Chocolate will have the same effect as we introduce a first-time chocolate glazing of our iconic Original Glazed Doughnut, said Jackie Woodward, the company’s chief marketing officer, in a statement. The Chocolate Glazed Doughnut is a delicious way to experience the solar eclipse no matter where you are and we cant wait for fans to try it.
The only bad news is the special doughnuts will only be available Aug. 19-21. So chocolate lovers, make sure you get them while they’re hot!
